Botanical gardens at Pamplemousse, followed by street food stalls on the public beach at Grand Baie if you have time. Great Chinese food in Port Louis too. Enjoy! Wonderful island and people x
My father in law was there as a boy in 1920s when his father was posted there in the army .. have a photo of him with a giant tortoise. He made himself unpopular at school in London on return, speaking French more fluently than his teacher ….. 😂
Delicious! In more ways than one. I did have to google it. Looks like a fantastic vacation. Beautiful beaches, weather and fab food. Also good to hear its history. Thanks Fiona.
I won a competition for a weeks stay in a private villa in Mauritius some years ago-we aren't beachy people, so wouldn't have paid to go there-was beautiful though, with amazing scenery (the layered, coloured soil in a quarry type place-don't know the name, sorry!-was incredible, as were the food markets, and the beaches-not so impressed with the stamp museum though, definitely a last resort visit!! The packs of feral dogs, left to fend for themselves, was very upsetting-as were the shanty towns, and the weird little shops with random items left in the windows, like decades old cereal boxes, all faded and dusty!- too much fish on the restaurant menus, but the sugar cane fields were awesome to see, and the people were lovely.
My parents lived in Mauritius for a couple of years so I obviously visited. Go to the market in Port Louis and buy colourful handwoven basket bags, which make a great vessel for newspapers and magazines! I am still in touch with my dad's wonderful driver, if you need someone to drive you round ;)
I'm not jealous. At all. You'll be delighted to know that it's raining in Bristol. Again! And not the tropical sort. Very much the grey, drizzly, miserable kind...

Considered Mauritius but inadequate healthcare there among other issues. Enjoy your holiday!
Well hopefully I won’t need it 🤞
I love your flat-latte-but-got-white-wine story. Made my day. 🙏. Thank you for sharing. (But did you drink it, who says you can’t at 10am???🤣)
You could but I’d just come off a plane and was gagging for a coffee!
ooh, so lovely - and those market ingredients look heavenly. Love rotis for breakfast, too. Have a wonderful time.
Thanks. I will!
You lucky &$%£&er! Hoping you are having as excellent a time as it sounds
Am doing my best 😉

It’s just so relentless 🙄
It looks absolutely beautiful and I'm glad they're not working you too hard 😔
Getting off very lightly!
Flat white. What a lovely interpretation at 10:00 :)
Ha! Yes. Sparkling fine, flat white a no-no!
Any chance you’re with Kohinoor Sahota?
