Like most Bristolians, or at least ones as food-obsessed as I am, I’m constantly being asked where to eat as if there’s a definitive list.  But Bristol, like many big cities, is a city of neighbourhoods and it depends where you live. I’m lucky enough to have three good restaurants within walking distance so they’re the ones I go to most often.

There will be favourites of others that I’ve left out - Bank for example, cos it’s right across the city. If I lived in Totterdown I’d be in there all the time.

Also if you’re a first timer to Bristol or just coming for the weekend you may want to stick to the centre rather than venture further afield.

Are the restaurants in this list typically Bristolian? Most are. The shipping containers on the Harbourside. The stalls in St Nick’s which should maybe be the subject of a separate post. The Lido - not many cities have lidos. It’s good to go to places which feel different from other cities in the UK.

Oh and a general point of which I was reminded when checking through the websites. If you want to save money come down midweek and take advantage of the city’s many fantastic lunch deals.

I’ll update this as and when I’ve got new input but revising this in the early part of 2025 you shouldn’t go far wrong with these.
