Easter decorations in the back streets of Deal, about which more next week

It seems to have been spring for such an age I can’t believe we’re only just now into Easter weekend.

Most likely you’ve already done your weekend shopping and decided what to drink but in case not - or you’re already in need of topping up your stocks - here are some last minute recommendations and some Easter wine pairings in case you missed them earlier in the week.

As usual for a bank holiday weekend almost all supermarkets have across the board discounts, in the case of Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons only for loyalty card holders.

I’ve picked out six buys - all good value - from Morrisons recent tasting although you’ll have to wait until next month for the latest additions to their range

If you’re a paying subscriber (which is worth it for the savings you’ll make on wine alone) you can also find my recent Tesco recommendations here and some suggestions as to what to buy from Waitrose which also has 25% off this weekend. (Their spring tasting is next week so I’ll update you after that though there won’t be a multibuy offer by then.)

Otherwise it’s been a bit of a crazy week for eating out with my other half’s big birthday to celebrate. As well as another new restaurant in Bristol I’ve been to Stroud, Broadstairs and Deal. There’s so much to write about the latter I’m going to save it for a ‘postcard’ but you can read about the delights of Stroud below.

I know some of you won’t be able to get to the restaurants I mention but there’s some useful tips to take on board about what you might make with the current spring produce including peas (which are suddenly everywhere) and the inevitable Jersey Royals for which I’ve got a neat new idea.
