The Friday 5 #91
March's cookbook giveaway, an excellent Mother’s Day cake, this weekend's wine bargains and why you should be drinking green tea.
It’s been an untypical week this week as I’ve been chained to my desk before going off on another trip. This time to take part in a culinary festival at the Constance Hotel in Mauritius. Technically it’s work but no, I don’t expect any sympathy.
Anyway it’s meant that I haven’t been up to London this week so no restaurant news except to tip you off about another classic French restaurant you might want to book before the reviews come out, Claude and Lucy Bosi’s Bouchon Josephine, which is modelled on a Lyonnais Bouchon. The plats du jour look particularly tempting.
I’m also conscious I’ll be missing Mother’s Day which means there’s no point in persuading my offspring to rustle up this tempting Queen Elizabeth cake though you might want to drop a hint to yours. Or make it for your mum.
I also have news of this month’s cookbook giveaway which is Anna Jones lovely new book Easy Wins. Judging by the conversation we’ve been having this week about how veggies are losing out to vegans you might want to drop a copy by your local restaurant for inspo. There’s a tempting dip below you might want to make too.
Finally, as predicted, some good wine offers have kicked in for Mother’s Day including 25% off six bottles on selected lines at Sainsbury’s and the offers at Waitrose I mentioned last week.
If you’d like to be filled in on all of that and take part in our online Spanish wine tasting on the 19th do think about upgrading either for a month which will give you a flavour of the content you get as a paid subscriber or, better still, sign up for a year’s subscription which is 30% cheaper at only £3.50 a month. (You could save that on one week’s wine recommendations alone!)
