I get why people have Christmas parties but why do we all make a special effort to see our friends for pre-Christmas jollies when we could equally well see them in January. In fact we’d probably appreciate it more. Maybe cos we’ll be dieting and doing dry January by then (not in my case but at least I’ve got the excuse of the day job!)
