For practically the first time since I started this series I’ve struggled to think of 5 things to write about.

I’m blaming the heat - have you been affected too? - and maybe the fact that I haven’t BEEN anywhere except Hawksmoor which doesn’t really count. (It belongs to my son and his best mate from school so I go regularly!)

So entirely perversely, given the temperatures, I’ve been cooking more which means you are the beneficiaries of a new salad recipe, if pasta salad can be dignified by the description ‘salad’ and a fabulous new - or new to me - one from Sabrina Ghayour.

At exactly the moment when the temperatures have finally dropped and it’s due to rain non-stop for a week. Good timing eh?

Even the wine recs are mis-timed. I was unfortunately unaware of the fact that the Co-op had 25% off 3 bottles last week - my excuse being that I was absorbed in what Waitrose had to offer but here are what I hope are some useful tips.

In better news the chenin tasting was a blast. “I didn’t realise it was a show-and-tell session” said one first-timer who I hope wasn’t deterred by the general raucousness. Make of that what you will . . .

But I have A Recording - crossing everything - for those of you who are paying subscribers. A functioning link - I hope - is below.

Plus, for those of you who don’t have the time to plough through it, a paean of praise for sweet chenin blanc which is really the most delicious wine.

Anyway onwards and upwards. It’s only 16°C as I write this so maybe the brain fog will clear.
