It’s peak wine tasting season at the moment: M & S and Waitrose this week. The Co-op, Sainsbury’s and Majestic next so if you need some moneysaving tips on what to what to drink this spring and summer it’s a good moment to sign up.

It’s actually quite tricky making a selection because some of the wines and vintages I tasted won’t be in till next month and others I’d really only recommend when they’re on special offer.

Waitrose has just had a 25% off promotion so probably won’t have another one for a while. Maybe the summer half term/late May bank holiday. Just guessing, not insider knowledge!

In the meantime here are some good reductions on individual wines worth snapping up.

I had a major cooking session from Lugma (this month’s book giveaway, if you remember) with my friend Fiona Sims over the Easter weekend. I’ve banged on before about the joys of cooking with friends. Fi and I do it whenever we meet up.

There are also some highlights from my visit to Deal last week. You may remember I was toying with a ‘postcard’ but time has moved on so I’m just sharing my highlights including a restaurant I can’t wait to get back to. (No, not Korean this time, but close!)

I’ve learnt that you need to write virtual postcards in the moment just like real ones.

And finally what do you all think of the smashburger? I’m a bit late to the party with them mainly because I don’t tend to hang out in burger joints but I can’t help feeling they’re a bit of a con. Here’s why …
