The Friday 5 #127
What to drink now that dry January is over. Maybe Chicken Wine? Plus an updated Bristol restaurant round-up and 3 versatile zingy dressings.
Well, we made it.
January is over. It’s February tomorrow and February is only 28 days.
It might be cold - ridiculously cold, actually - but it’s still light at 5pm. Spring is on its way.
And if you’ve been doing Dry January you can drink again - assuming you want to. You may have got such a taste for the sober lifestyle that going back to ‘normal’ doesn’t appeal. Not that I fall into that category as you can see from last week’s lunch about which more below. I love the fact that although little more than an apology, it got practically as many likes as my usual posts
Anyway if you are thinking of drinking again you may need to top up your stocks and there are some good buys around, bearing in mind that there are likely to be still more tempting ones in the run-up to V-Day, especially on champagne.
It no doubt won’t have escaped your notice that Chinese new year is. being celebrated this week. It was good to be back in one of Bristol’s oldest and most iconic restaurants to mark it. Read on to find out why it’s so good and for an update of my Bristol restaurant round-up.
Finally, before we get on with the nitty-gritty, a reminder that our next online tasting is at 6.30pm on Thursday February 20th. On sherry though I’m going to talk about tapas too. Do sign up, if only for a month, if you want to join us. A fiver isn’t bad for a wine tasting 😉
