“Have you decided what we should drink? Seems the discounts are go” asked a friend who was looking for advice as to what fizz to buy for her Christmas party.
Too right they are! Every single supermarket seems to have a deal this weekend including Waitrose so on the face of it it’s a good opportunity to load up.
The downside is that there’s every likelihood that if you do you’ll drink it well before Christmas which is I suspect what the supermarkets and other purveyors of B***k F****y offers are counting on. Still, if you’re strong-willed, take advantage. I’ve listed some offers below
(Just to give you a taster I suggested a crémant or a Cava rather than a prosecco for my friend’s party fizz. Either the Louis Bouillot Crémant de Bourgogne which is down to £9 at Sainsbury’s if you’re a Nectar card holder or the smartly bottled Louis Vallon Crémant de Bordeaux, down to £9.38)
Otherwise it’s been a week for going out and about. Celebratory Xmas dinners and lunches in full swing. I was invited to a very glam dinner at The Savoy Grill which made me realise that the Big Sweary One knows a bit about running a restaurant and a lunch at the smart but slightly overpriced new Mexican restaurant Fonda with my successor at the Guardian, Hannah Crosbie.
It may well have been after one of said meals that I decided to offer 50% off new subscriptions until the end of the weekend so do take advantage of my impulsiveness if you want my moneysaving wine tips or think it would make a good early Xmas gift. (It would!)
And a warm welcome and thankyou to all those of you who have already signed up as a result of the offer. Enjoy your first full Friday 5!
