The Friday 5 #113
The wine tasting that will solve the problem most people have with wine, the 10 best wine buys from the Co-op and the restaurant I went to twice in the first week it opened.
Don’t you just hate computers? And websites and frankly having to make any changes to them?
OK maybe you’re super-techy and you don’t but I find dealing with the back end of a website sends me into a complete tailspin.
That’s despite having my hand held (not literally) by my webmaster David of Fuzzylime who couldn’t be kinder, more patient and accommodating. If you have a website or even want one he’s your man. Well he is once this is out of the way as I don’t want him distracted
As I mentioned, I’m putting the key section of my website behind a paywall which is causing all kinds of angst. It really shouldn’t but I’ve run it for 18 years without charging and part of me (the female, very British part) feels a bit uncomforable about asking people to pay for it.
But without being overly pompous (I hope) it’s my intellectual property. I’ve spent hours - admittedly many of them pleasurable - working out what wine goes with what and that’s knowledge it’s fair to charge for. More on this next week! (Don’t worry, you guys will get a discount.)
You may also have spotted my news about being the wine writer in residence at The Pilgrm which is bringing me great joy. I only wish I could move in. Actually I couldn’t. I have too many books and I love Bristol too much but I can’t deny it’s a very cool gig. I love this hotel.
If you haven’t booked my tasting on October 16th I understand there are a few places left so get in quick. It’s called How to taste wine (and describe what you find in the glass), the latter bit being what bothers most people I know. They might like a wine but what should they SAY about it? This tasting is designed to solve exactly that problem.
Here’s the link you need to book tickets.
Also in in this week’s Friday 5 (which for those of you who are new to it is my weekly round-up of tips for my paid subscribers) is
