The (belated, sorry) Friday 5 #77
But some great under £10 wine buys, a cool cocktail pairing for Thanksgiving and a hugely sexy cheese tart
Sorry for the delay in posting this yesterday. After managing to give you a heads-up that bookings had opened for the impossible-to-book The Devonshire (I hope you nabbed one before the system crashed) I got sidetracked by old friends, which was a nice thing to happen. Sometimes - actually most times - we should make priority for friends. Right?
Anyway it was great to see those of you who made it to the fortified wine tasting earlier in the week. (There was a lot of love for sherry I was pleased to see.) I brought along Waitrose’s no. 1 amontillado which is made by Lustau and sells for £13.49 a full-size bottle currently which even without an offer is a bargain.
This week continues in a somewhat boozy vein with my under £10 picks from the Wine Society, news of a cool new whisky bar and why you should look out for natural wine if you’re drinking Beaujolais nouveau this weekend.
7 super wines from The Wine Society, all under £10
I know this is a bit niche as not all of you are members of the Society which is where I spend a good deal of my own money on wine but hopefully enough of you are for it to be useful. And if you’re not and are based in the UK it is absolutely worth joining.
