You won’t be entirely surprised to hear there’s no Friday 5 this week. There’s too much to assimilate both on the language front and my intended guide on how and where to eat in the city.
But I just wanted to share this message on the wall of a bar in the Russafa area (LeBar de Vins) which seemed intended for me, having changed the name of my Substack this week.

Don’t know if Marco Aurelio really said that but it applies as much today as it did all those centuries ago.
In the meantime I thought I’d share this brilliantly simple and effective way of cooking clams we were taught by Nando, one of the owners of the school I’m studying at, who also turns out to be an impressive cook.
