I don’t know how many of you are doing Dry January but I suspect quite a few of you, like me, are attempting to cut down on the amount you drink so I thought it might be helpful to look at alternative ways of achieving that and some of the better alcohol-free drinks out there.

I’ve posted some recently and there were more in my Guardian column last weekend.

You’ll also find some strategies in my post How to drink less and in my book How to Drink Without Drinking (if you fancy the AF kaffir lime mojito in the picture above there’s a link here).

I’ve got one or two new ideas to share too which are working well for me right now.

If you’d like to sign up for the tasting and discussion you can subscribe for just £4.50 a month or take advantage of the 30% discount on annual subscriptions which I’ve extended until the weekend.

The toughest thing I think is finding a substitute for your favourite drink, particularly if that’s wine. (Beer drinkers, of whom I happily am one but not all of the time, have it easy. Cider drinkers can get by.)

Gin alternatives I think are the next best thing - not on their own but made into an AF gin and tonic . Is that better than a tonic on its own? I think it is - after all you still get the botanicals.
