A first-timer’s guide to Corsica
Why you should go and how to plan a trip
As regular readers will have gathered our Corsica trip didn’t work out quite the way we planned when my partner was turned back at the gate because his passport fell foul of the new regulations. But the upside was that I had plenty of time to think about the experience and how to get the best out of a destination which is still comparatively unknown to many Brits.
The original plan - ignoring the advice that you need a car to get around - was to travel around the island by train but we soon discovered there were a limited number of routes and that most trains only went twice a day.
Given that I ended up travelling on my own I only took one journey from Bastia to Calvi, scrounging lifts for the rest of the time (see Lovely People below)
