The Friday 5 #114
The latest Ottolenghi cookbook giveaway, 7 of the best value wines from M & S and the brilliant magnum you have to buy
Well, I’ve finally made it. Or rather my webmaster and I have finally made it.
We - actually he - has installed a paywall on my website matchingfoodandwine.com. Which seems, I hope you’ll agree, fair enough after giving away the content for the past 18 years 🙄
As I mentioned, countless people have told me they use the site all the time which is obviously flattering but a little annoying, in the case of companies, who were using it for free until I realised I wasn’t actually asking any of them to pay for it 🙄🙄
So now I am and if you use it I would be hugely grateful it if you would.
To make it even more worth your while I’m going to updating posts more regularly and adding fresh content like this new post on fish soups and stews.
The way it works - and it’s explained here - is that you create an account or sign in then buy a bundle of credits which you can use to access individual articles, one credit per article. This only applies to articles in the Top Pairings section. The rest of the website is still free.
You can either do that on a one off or a rolling basis and there’s a corporate subscription for those of you who want to give more than one member of your team access to my expertise.
Subs start at £6 for a one off bundle, from £5 a month for a monthly subscription and from £55 for an annual sub depending on the number of posts you think you’ll need
There’s a discount on annual subscriptions for paid subscribers to ETDT cos I really appreciate how much much you’ve done already to support my work and make it possible to earn a living from self-publishing.
Here’s what else you get this week as a paid subscriber
A chance to win Ottolenghi’s wonderful new book, Comfort (there’s a taster on the website)
7 great wine buys from M & S at £10 and under (including a Tuscan red you might like to snap up for our online tasting on Monday October 21st)
A terrific dish I had at Toklas this week that you could easily make at home this weekend
What may be my favourite London restaurant though I appreciate I change my mind about this almost every week.
And couple of excellent Xmas present ideas for those of you who like to get organised early. Including an incredibly well-priced magnum
Here we go …
